ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

Beautiful smile makes life more beautiful.

Orthodontic treatment can improve your smile at any age but there is usually a best age for treatment to begin.  In the past orthodontic treatment was often postponed until the eruption of all permanent teeth.  We now know that by utilizing the growth that takes place in younger children, many problems should be treated at an earlier age.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child should see an orthodontist by age seven or earlier if a problem is detected.

Dr. Pourami has done extensive study on dento-facial development of children and her thesis for her master’s degree in orthodontics was the effect of certain orthodontic appliances upon the growth and development of children.  She is highly qualified to determine how and when your child’s particular problem should be treated for maximum improvement with the least time and expense.

Recognizing a problem at an early age does not always result in early treatment.  Dr. Pourami will advise you if your child will benefit from early treatment or if it would be preferable to wait until all permanent teeth have erupted.

Treatment Timing and Phases

Orthodontic treatment can be completed in one phase when all permanent teeth have erupted or could be divided into two separate phases (phase-1 and Phase2) with a maintenance period in between.
