Missing Teeth

Sometimes the bud of a permanent tooth does not develop.  This can be due to hereditary influences.  The most common teeth affected by this deformity is the upper lateral incisor. This can cause unsightly spacing around the front teeth and cause asymmetry of the arch.  Orthodontic treatment can close the space due to missing teeth, or open the space to allow a prosthetic replacement.

Extra Teeth

In some occasions one might develop an extra tooth which if not erupted may interfere with normal eruption of a permanent tooth.  It may cause a tooth to erupt out of normal alignment.  Early detection and removal is advisable to avoid interference with normal tooth eruption.
