Crossbite

This condition refers to one of more upper teeth fitting inside the lower dental members rather than the normal position (i.e. outside of the lowers).  It can occur in the front teeth or in the back teeth. 


Early correction is important as this condition can:

  • Prevent proper functioning of the affected teeth leading to excessive wear
  • Lead to difficulty in chewing
  • Lead to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problem
  • Cause traumatic occlusion with subsequent periodontal disease
  • Result in a less attractive smile
