The First Visit
We use imaging computers to illustrate the problems, and other visual aids to help you understand what orthodontic appliances look like and how they work.  We also have an extensive collection of before and after treatment photographs of patients with similar orthodontic problems.  Our goal is to answer all your questions regarding your orthodontic treatment at this first appointment.
We are looking forward to meeting you and establishing a relationship.  Your first visit to our office is your opportunity to get to know us, have your questions answered, and discuss your concerns. It also gives Dr. Pourami a chance to do a thorough examination of your teeth, your bite, analyze your jaw movement and facial appearance.  She will recommend if and when treatment is indicated.

Before a final diagnosis and detailed treatment plan can be made, orthodontic records must be taken and reviewed by Dr. Pourami.  Diagnostic records consist of photographs, necessary x-rays, and plaster models of the teeth.  Because orthodontic treatment has a long range effect on facial appearance and the health of the dentition, a thorough evaluation of the patient’s bones and jaw structure is essential.  These records allow Dr. Pourami to make the blueprint for the treatment and be certain that no details are overlooked.  We frequently take these diagnostic records at the time of initial examination appointment; but, if it’s not convenient another appointment will be made at a later date.
