Dr. Pourami graduated as Valedictorian from Tehran University and was presented with the highest academic award by the King of Iran. She pursued advanced training in orthodontics in England, and received the Specialty Certificate, Diploma in Orthodontics (D.Orth.), from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. For several years she served as an assistant professor at the National University in Tehran while maintaining her private practice.
In 1986, Dr. Pourami moved to California and established her private practice in West Los Angeles. She has over 25 years of experience in treating patients, teaching and research. Her training in different universities in Europe and the United States makes her contribution to the field of orthodontics a unique one.
Dr. Pourami took a sabbatical from her work to complete a two-year Master’s Program in Orthodontics at Northwestern University in Illinois, where she conducted research on the effect of certain orthodontic appliances on craniofacial growth and development in children. She remained at Northwestern as a lecturer and orthodontic consultant in the Department of Facial Abnormalities.
